When the charger is powered on, it's possible to put your iPhone series 12 & 13 phone directly on the holder. At the edge of the round part of the holder, there is a magnetic ring that holds the phone in place via a corresponding magnetic ring in the phone. The wireless charging will then take place inside the magnetic ring.
